Where do you go after you die...?
« on: July 29, 2009, 10:09:38 AM »
Okay- New topic for those who wish to add their .02.

What do you think happens to you when you die?

I personally think thats it. You die, no afterlife, no heaven, no hell, nothing. I actually find peace with that because whats gonna happen after? Nothin  :-\ .  I am probably wrong, and in that case I will see most of you in Hell.  >:D

I have no clue. I hope there is a God. I hope there is a beautiful aferlife. But, I don't know if there is and I won't ever pretend that I know.

Truthfully, the beliefs I hold are very much my own.

I do believe "heaven" is not a place that we as mortals can see. I do not believe it is in the sky, but rather another dimension.  I do entirely believe in the concept of soul.  I am pretty sure I believe this is hell, though I go back and forth on that one... mostly because my Mother laughed at me for the idea and even though I feel it strongly, I always hear her cackle in my head.  Where it gets confusing for me is whether this was intended to be hell or we turned it into such.  I also believe in the what best describes it as reincarnation, some by choice, some not.

How many times have you returned to earth?

I don't usually discuss this subject which is why I didn't answer right away.  If you're going to call me crazy, just do it and get it out of the way. Please don't ask me questions only to tell me later I'm crazy for it.

Edited to add:

I guess I didn't directly answer the question "What happens after you die?".... I believe that is completely dependent upon how you died firstly and how you lived secondly.  Example: Suicides are automatically returned to another body and are made to live on earth again without a choice.

If you are crazy, I'm just as crazy because what you described there is almost exactly how I feel about it, though I didn't reply here for the same reason. I don't really believe in a heaven as a final destination of sorts though, more some sort of... place to stay for a while in between incarnations. I do think that at some point you stop incarnating, when your soul has had enough, and you just... fade out of any kind of existence completely. I know I personally really like that prospect; a vast nothingness and eternal rest without being conscious of anything anymore. Or something.

Thank you :)

Through many close deaths and unfathomable hard times, I have had the very real opportunity to question my faith.  Evaluating many different religions and placing that against science, has led me to a path that not only makes sense to me, but feels right.

I also believe that at some point you stop incarnating as you said, but not fade out of existence... rather transform.  In Thermodymanics, The First Law (which is really more of a theory) states that energy under normal conditions cannot be created or destroyed, simply transformed from one type of energy to another.  I believe our soul is exactly that... energy.  Which is specifically why being "positive" or "negative" about something directly affects the outcome.  We are energy and that is power.  And, though a separate subject, because energy is the foundation upon which everything operates, I don't understand why some would consider being a vegetarian less pain inflicting than eating animal flesh.  But that's neither here nor there....

Btw Audry, I wasn't trying to imply you are wrong by any means.  I was just sharing why I think what I think. :)

I think that belief systems are as varied as people

And people vary

As long as someone's belief system doesn't involve a tearing down of mine... I'm up for almost anything in discussion

I'll have to think on the energy theory before I can give a good and eloquent opinion on that, but it's certainly interesting, though I'm not yet sure just how much of it I agree with. One of the main points I feel a bit conflicted about is the vegetarian-argument; I have several reasons for choosing to be one, but at least one of them is the way in which many animals are treated just so that we can have as much meat as soon as possible for as cheap as possible. This, in my eyes at least, certainly inflicts pain upon animals and I know that I as one individual won't make much of a difference, but it's a statement at least, and it's one person more. But as I said, I'll have to think this theory over a bit more before I can really form a definite opinion on it.

And no offense taken, of course :) We're all free to express our thoughts, and I don't think anyone here means to force their ideas upon others.
